Historic Name PONCAN THEATRE
Description of Significance THE PONCAN THEATRE, COMPLETED IN 1927, WAS DESIGNED BY RENOWNED TULSA ARCHITECT, JOHN DUNCAN FORSYTH AND IS THE BEST EXAMPLE OF SPANISH COLONIAL REVIVAL STYLE ARCHITECTURE IN PONCA CITY. SOME OF ITS SPANISH COLONIAL REVIVAL DETAILS INCLUDE THE CENTRAL CURVILINEAR GABLE OUTLINED WITH TERRA COTTA ORNAMENTS AND ACCENTED WITH FINIALS. THE BUILDING HAS BEEN SUBSTANTIALLY ALTERED ON THE INTERIOR TO ACCOMMODATE MORE MODERN THEATER FUNCTIONS, BUT THE EXTERIOR RETAINS A HIGH DEGREE OF INTEGRITY.
